DNV has issued a Statement of Feasibility for the first full-scale WindSpider system. The system has been evaluated in accordance with DNV-RP-A203 (Technology Qualification, September 2019) for its designated use, and DNV considers qualification of the technology feasible, as defined in DNV-SE-0160 (Technology qualification management and verification, February 2018). WindSpider will continue the technology qualification including working towards an Endorsement of qualification plan and Statement of qualified technology.

“The recognition from DNV represents an important milestone for WindSpider and the development of our technology. We look forward to the next phase and achieving further milestones leading to a first full-scale WindSpider system being built” says the WindSpider CEO, Kent Lynggaard Vinkel.

About WindSpider

WindSpider is a technology company that develops an innovative and cost-efficient solution for installation and major component replacement of onshore and offshore wind turbines. The self-erecting solution, which uses the turbine tower as support, has several attractive features such as eliminating relative motion between crane and wind turbine, no turbine weight or height restrictions, it may use floating vessels, and achieves good operability at windy sites.  The solution also allows for game-changing offshore installation and maintenance of floating wind turbines instead of tow-back to shore. As such, WindSpider will contribute to reduced LCOE, which is welcomed by the developers in the fast-growing wind industry. With an effective lifting capacity which may be scaled to +1 500mt, WindSpider solves some of the biggest issues in the wind industry and is prepared for the next generation of wind turbines, at a substantially lower cost.
